About the role

Our Asset Preservation team are an autonomous and innovative group of professionals that strive to make a difference daily by responding to customer service requests related to works within the road reserve, issuing local law permits and undertaking inspections of council's assets, and providing surveillance of building and construction activity to ensure the preservation, reinstatement and the construction of council assets are undertaken in accordance with Knox City Council standards.

You will have a customer-centric approach when investigating complaints and gaining compliance with Knox City Council's Local Law focusing on building site management and permit enforcement with an aim to providing community-based outcomes in line with relevant guidelines, policies, procedures and legislation.

This is a full-time temporary role working a nine-day fortnight, 7am - 4pm based at the Knox City Council Civic Centre, until June 2026. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.

This is a Band 5 classified role; remuneration will be $80,377.95 - $93,517.76 gross per annum (depending on skills and experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the superannuation guarantee.

A tool of trade vehicle is available for travel to and from work.

What you will bring to this role  

The key selection criteria for this role are: 

• An established understanding of applicable legislation such as the Local Government Act and the Road Management Act.
• Excellent interpersonal skills involving effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing to builders, property owners, contractors, service authority representatives and Council staff.
• Sound time management practices.
• Experience in the surveillance and supervision of civil and asset preservation construction works and/or building and development site works.
• A demonstrated understanding of interpreting a wide range of technical plans, including civil, development and drainage plans.
• Knowledge of investigation and evidence gathering techniques and procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• You must also possess a valid Victorian driver's licence to be considered.
