Job Title: Bookkeeper
Reports to: Financial Accountant
Location: 52 Victoria Street, Carlton/Remote
Job Type: Casual with the view becoming part-time permanent
Position Summary:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the company by managing day-to-day accounting tasks, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and an understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain Financial Records:
Record daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank transactions.
Ensure all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with company policies and accounting principles.
Reconcile Accounts:
Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts monthly, ensuring accuracy and identifying discrepancies.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Follow up on overdue accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Financial Reporting:
Experience in payroll (essential) including understanding of superannuation, GST, FBT, WorkCover, Payroll Tax, PAYG withholding tax, etc.
Record Keeping:
Maintain and organize financial documents and records, ensuring they are readily available for audits or financial reviews.
Software & Systems:
Have experience with MYOB to maintain financial data and generate reports.
Ensure all data is accurately input and up-to-date in financial systems.
Qualifications:
Education:
A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper) a plus.
Experience:
At least 4 years’ experience working in an accounting/bookkeeper role.
Have minimum 3 years demonstrated experience working with MYOB.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
Additional:
Ability to adapt to new accounting systems and software as needed.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot discrepancies.
