Are you an experienced tradesperson? Morley Canvas is currently seeking a Tradesperson to join our team. In this role, you will work under supervision of our Production Supervisor and be responsible for assisting the installation and manufacturing of high-quality, custom canvas products.

This role involves operating machinery to accurately cut and assemble materials, ensuring they are ready for installation.

As a Tradesperson you will:

• Liaise with customers to understand their needs and define the job scope.   

• Collaborate with the Morley Canvas team to deliver high-quality products that meet the job requirements, while mentoring junior and apprentice staff.    

• Cut materials using various tools, including scissors, Stanley knives, rotary cutters, lay cutters, hot knives and cutting machinery.   

• Assemble products using industrial and lightweight sewing machines, as well as welding techniques (high frequency and wedge).   

• Help finish products, including adding eyelets, stay puts, tonneau loops, lift a dots, press studs and other necessary components.   

• Perform repair work, including trap repairs, mending or replacing zips, welding patches, and fixing tents or camper trailers  

• Install products like ute canopies, tonneau buttons or bars and camper trailers according to client specifications.   

• Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the equipment and the factory.   

• Carry out site work as required.   

• Perform other duties as reasonably assigned, based on your skills and experience.   
  

What we are looking for:

Skills and Experience:

• 3+ years’ experience as a machine operator  

• 3+ years’ experience working with industrial textiles  

• Proficient in working with measurements and precise specifications 

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications/Clearances: 

• Trade Certificate – Cert III in Manufactured Textile Products, Cert III in Automotive and Marine Trimming, or an equivalent qualification   

• Valid C Class WA Driver’s License  

• National Police Clearance
