This position is based in Brisbane but flexible work arrangements can be considered upon application, including working from home and working remotely at a Regional QBCC office (subject to availability).

PLEASE NOTE: The QBCC Brisbane office will be relocating from West End to the Brisbane CBD at the end of 2025.

About the Role 

  • Representing QBCC in court or tribunal proceedings.
  • Obtaining evidence in the form of statements and documents including from third parties.
  • Preparing reports regarding investigations and recommendations regarding action to be taken.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and review of policies, procedures and systems.
  • Assessing and prioritising complaints and referrals.
  • Monitoring compliance with licence conditions and other requirements the Commission may have of a licensee.
  • Oversee the preparation of cases prior to initiating action on a licence, disciplinary proceedings, and managing cases to ensure appropriate outcomes are achieved.
  • Provide authoritative advice concerning licensing standards within the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act 1991 and other legislation administered by QBCC, including:
    • Reviewing cases referred, analysing the situation, preparing briefs for senior management, and recommending action to be taken.
    • Providing advice to other QBCC staff engaged in activities in respect to licensee's continued entitlement to a licence.
    • Provide exceptional customer service to all staff of the Commission and external customers.

  1. Investigate breaches of legislation and take appropriate action, including job site operations and investigations.
  2. Contribute to the team to achieve outcomes and effective work relationships.
  3. Manage cases using research, decision-making, planning and reporting writing skills.
  4. Use communication and problem-solving techniques to achieve innovation and deliver and promote quality customer service.
