Your opportunity
Mission Australia is seeking a capable and enthusiastic Assistant Facilities Officer to support the delivery of high-quality property and facilities services across our leasehold portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks including maintenance coordination, contractor management, WHS compliance, and minor works projects. It's a chance to apply your expertise in a purpose-driven organisation committed to helping Australians in need, while contributing to safe, efficient, and well-managed work environments.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage planned and reactive maintenance across the leasehold property portfolio, ensuring compliance with Australian standards and lease obligations.
  • Oversee contractor performance, procurement, and service delivery to ensure works are completed on time, within budget, and in line with WHS policies.
  • Liaise with internal WHS teams and building management to maintain safety standards, support emergency planning, and respond to WHS-related matters.
  • Provide timely and professional facilities support to internal stakeholders across Housing, Community Services, and Corporate Services.
  • Plan and manage minor works, make-good activities, and refurbishment projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Maintain property and asset registers, process invoices and purchase orders, and manage facilities requests through systems such as ServiceNow and Microsoft Planner.
  • Contribute to the development of facilities management strategies, identify process improvements, and provide subject matter expertise to enhance service delivery.

Requirements for success

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a facilities management role, ideally supporting a multi-site property portfolio.
  • Proven ability to manage contractors, consultants, and service providers to deliver projects and maintenance works on time and within budget.
  • Strong understanding of building legislation, lease obligations, and WHS practices across Australia.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to provide timely and practical advice.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, ServiceNow, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint, with strong data tracking and reporting capabilities.
  • Effective time management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach with a "can do" attitude and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks.

Your benefits

  • Rewarding work - every day you know you're making a real difference
  • Not-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax (details via AccessPay)
  • Free external, confidential counselling and access to chaplaincy support
  • Volunteering opportunities
  • Opportunity to purchase additional annual leave
  • Extra leave including: Mission Australia Thank You Day & Work Anniversary Day off
