ABOUT THE ROLE

Barker College is currently seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, experienced, innovative and enthusiastic Junior School Specialist Teacher’s Aide located at the Hornsby Campus.

This will be a Permanent, Full-Time Term-Time role (1.0FTE) commencing in Term 1 2026.

Barker College runs an orientation event for new staff prior to the whole staff return for Professional Development on Thursday 22 January 2026.

Specialist Teachers’ Aides work collaboratively with the Specialist STEAM (Science Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) and Visual Arts Teachers in the Junior School. Prior experience supporting either/both STEAM and VA would be advantageous. All Junior Staff Teachers’ Aides are also required to participate in playground supervision and the school’s cocurricular program.

The School is an authorised International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) World School offering the Primary Years Program with a focus on Inquiry Learning from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6. Specialist Subject Teachers are expected to support the implementation of inquiry pedagogy and experience in this area would be an advantage.

The successful applicants will be able to demonstrate a track record of:

• Working and contributing to a team

• An ability to deliver engaging lessons

• An ability to plan and implement an integrated curriculum;

• An understanding of inquiry learning and its relationship to syllabus documents;

• Confidence and competence in the use of ICT in teaching and learning;

• An enthusiasm for continued professional learning.

All teaching staff participate in the School’s extensive Pastoral Care and co-curricular programs. The ability to coach team sports is highly desirable.
