About the Opportunity
MARS Recruitment is partnering with a well-established and forward-thinking accounting firm. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join their professional team. This is a client-facing role that offers autonomy, variety, and the opportunity to make a genuine impact supporting small to medium business clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage your own portfolio of business clients and act as their primary point of contact.
- Provide day-to-day bookkeeping and support across accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, and related add-ons.
- Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, TPAR, and Superannuation Guarantee obligations.
- Oversee Australian payroll processing and ensure STP compliance.
- Collaborate closely with internal accountants and directors to deliver a seamless client experience.
- Train and mentor junior team members on systems, processes, and best practices.
- Assist clients to streamline workflows, implement cloud solutions, and maintain compliance.
- Troubleshoot issues independently and deliver timely resolutions.
Skills & Experience
- 3+ years' experience in a similar bookkeeping or client-focused accounting support role.
- Certificate IV in Bookkeeping, Diploma of Accounting, or equivalent qualification (highly regarded).
- Strong working knowledge of Xero, MYOB, and associated add-ons.
- Proven experience managing ATO lodgements (BAS).
- Solid understanding of Australian payroll and STP requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and priorities independently.
- Experience training or mentoring others is an advantage.
