AHP Medical is currently working with Top End Health Service to recruit Basic Physician Trainees for Feb 2026 intake. As a Level 3 accredited teaching hospital, the Division of Medicine has a large number of rotations for Basic and Advanced training to support your clinical and career goals.
Working within NT Health services offers trainees opportunities to participate in a broad range of multidisciplinary clinical teams.
The Position
The Basic Physician Trainee positions are accredited by the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP) for PREP training. The positions are suitable for applicants in their third postgraduate year or above, who have previous experience or training in a hospital-based internal medicine training program. These training programs have maintained an excellent record of consistent success in written and clinical FRACP examinations.
Training Rotations Include:
Cardiology Neurology & Stroke
Gastroenterology Respiratory
Haematology Infectious Diseases
Endocrinology Oncology
Palliative Care Renal
Acute Medical Unit General Medicine
Rehabilitation Rheumatology
Academic & Exam Support
The program includes weekly BPT tutorials, Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs, and extensive support for written and clinical FRACP exams. Short and long case preparation is delivered by experienced local and national examiners, several of whom are part of the RACP National Examining Panel.
Selection Criteria
- PGY2+
- Current general registration with AHPRA or ability to apply for Registration via the Competent Authority Pathway.
- Demonstrated clinical skills and experience in internal medicine
