About the Role

As the Coordinator Water & Coasts you will lead the Water & Coasts part (approx. 5 FTE) of the Coasts & Climate Resilience team whilst also contributing to delivery of water and coast related plans, policies and projects and providing expert professional advice to Council and community.  

You will support the Team Leader – Coasts & Climate Resilience by leading the Water & Coasts part of the Coasts & Climate Resilience team. This role provides an opportunity for a balance of leadership and contribution to delivery plans, policies and projects that will have a lasting benefit for the community and environment.

Reporting to the Team Leader – Coasts & Climate Resilience the core responsibilities include:

  • Lead Water & Coasts part of the Coasts & Climate Resilience team (approx. 5 FTE)
  • Provide expert Water & Coasts advice internally and externally
  • Manage and oversee complex Water & Coasts projects
  • Contribute to a positive and fun work culture

 

About You

You will thrive in this role if you are adaptable, values-driven, and enjoy making processes run smoothly behind the scenes. You will also have the following skills and experience:

 

  • Education & Experience – Demonstrated experience in embedding Water & Coasts in an organisation. Experience in leading teams is highly regarded. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as environment, natural resource management, engineering or science. 
  • Written & Oral Communication – Ability to communicate information and concepts and provide exceptional customer experience to a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, sometimes dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Problem Solving – Ability to respond to issues, problems and opportunities that arise and manage varied work requirements with a keen attention to detail.
  • Law & Regulatory Awareness – Demonstrated experience in understanding and applying regulatory or compliance requirements in relation to water and coastal management.
  • Project Management - Extensive experience in project management, strategy development and policy formulation and proven track record in the delivery of major projects.
