Based in NSW Parliament, the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is a specialist service department working to support the operation of the Parliament of NSW by providing logistical support and advice to members, the Departments of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly and the people of New South Wales. Our office is found close to public transport in the heart of Macquarie Street CBD, next to the State Library and Sydney’s Botanic Gardens.

About the position:
The Parliamentary Accountant is responsible for the financial management and reporting for Parliament of NSW. This role is required to provide internal advice, reporting on the financial position of Parliament of NSW through the preparation of budgets, forecasts, management and statutory reports, and ensuring that financial information provided is timely, accurate and relevant. The position also has responsibility preparation of all tax returns for the Parliament.

Skills & Experience
Relevant degree qualifications in accounting, plus Qualified Chartered Accountant or Certified Practising Accountant
There are currently two vacancies, each role will be responsible for the following main aspects of the Parliamentary Accountant’s responsibilities:
Role 1 temporary: Parliamentary Finance Business Partnering and Budgeting
Role 2 ongoing: Prime Reporting and Financial Statements
