Your new role – Camping Compliance Officer

Are you community‑minded, confident in enforcing regulations and passionate about the outdoors and great customer service? Central Coast Council is seeking a casual Camping Compliance Officer to join our team and help ensure safe, enjoyable and compliant camping experiences across the Central Coast region this summer.

As a Camping Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for performing inspectorial and law enforcement functions, primarily relating to Council’s Caravans and Camping By-law. Duties include inspecting campgrounds, ensuring compliance with camping permit conditions such as no fires, self-contained vehicles and length of stay, while also providing friendly customer service to campers. The position may also support broader compliance functions, including parking enforcement and animal control, in line with relevant Acts, Regulations, Council Policies, and By-laws.

This is a casual position, working approximately 3 days a week until end of April 2026. There is potential for relief compliance work after the camping compliance work finishes for the season in April 2026.

Essential:

  • Knowledge of or experience in tourism and camping industry (desirable).

  • Previous experience in a customer service role.

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including demonstrated conflict resolution, consultation and customer service skills.

  • Proficient literacy and written communication skills, including the preparation of evidence, reports and correspondence.

  • Demonstrated organisation and time management skills.

  • Well-developed computer skills, including the ability to manage systems, including Microsoft Office suite.

  • The ability to interpret and apply legislation to make sound enforcement decisions.

Salary and conditions: Casual position.  Central Coast Council’s Enterprise Agreement – Technical and Inspectoral Level 2.1 ($36.78 per hour, plus 25% casual loading = $45.97 total hourly rate).
