Auswide Vehicle Services in Richmond is seeking a highly organized and experienced Mechanical Workshop Manager to oversee and be hands on in the daily operations of our mechanical workshop. The ideal candidate will manage staff, workflow, order parts, be hands on to ensure efficiency in our workshop . This role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, fluent English, excellent communication skills dealing face to face, over the phone and via email with our customers and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, supervise and coordinate all activities in the mechanical workshop.
Greeting our customers, listening, and answering their questions in a polite and professional manner.
Assist mechanics with diagnosing vehicles.
Ordering and negotiating the best possible price for parts.
Prepare customer invoices
Monitor workflow and turnaround to meet deadlines
Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
Ensure all machinery, vehicles, and equipment are maintained and repaired in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Develop and enforce health and safety procedures to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in processes and performance.
Requirements:
Proven experience (typically 5+ years) as a mechanic/technician, previous leadership rolls an advantage but not essential.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, maintenance practices, and diagnostic tools.
Ability to lead a team by example.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations.

Familiarity with ISO standards or quality management systems.
