At Backbone Steel, part of the Summit Homes Group, we provide high-quality steel framing solutions to both internal and external clients. With a busy production and assembly line, our Myaree factory is a high-volume steel framing producer. We are looking for a skilled Steel Detailer / Drafter to join our team and contribute to the delivery of accurate, high-quality structural drawings.

About the role:
This role involves reading and interpreting architectural and structural building plans, creating detailed shop drawings, and supporting production teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in steel framing, CAD software, and a good understanding of fabrication and construction techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret architectural and structural building plans

• Create shop drawings for structural steel items, including dimensions, welds, holes, and locations

• Use AutoCAD, ProSteel 3D, and EnduroCAD for drawing production

• Apply LISP routines to improve drawing efficiency

• Complete job drawings according to schedule requirements

• Understand basic weld types, sizing, and geometric calculations (rise, run, radius)

• Plan and calculate lengths and dimensions of steel elements within construction tolerances

• Apply basic construction and fabrication techniques

• Communicate with supervisors to resolve structure-related site issues

• Assist in maintaining and calibrating Enduro machines in the factory

About you:

• Experience in steel framing or structural detailing

• Proficient in AutoCAD, ProSteel 3D, and EnduroCAD

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work collaboratively with production and supervisory teams

• Understanding of construction and fabrication processes
