The Opportunity

With continued growth and expansion, we are now seeking someone in the role of Estimator to add to our team. This is a diverse, fast paced role and the ideal candidate will lead the estimating, tendering and submissions for all projects from inception through to delivery. Responsibilities:

• Business development: assisting with the senior management team to solicit and review tendering opportunities and bid/no bid processes.

• Project Analysis: Conduct comprehensive reviews of project plans, specifications, and other documentation to understand the scope, materials, and labor requirements.

• Cost Estimation: Utilize first principal methods to prepare accurate cost estimates for civil projects.

• Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit and review quotes from suppliers, subcontractors and establish procurement for projects.

• Risk Assessment: Identify and analyse potential risks and opportunities associated with each project.

• Value Engineering: Collaborate with project teams to identify value engineering opportunities that optimize project costs without compromising quality or performance.

• Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed and accurate bid proposals, including cost breakdowns, project schedules, and other relevant documentation, to submit competitive bids for civil engineering projects.

• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and cost-saving innovations in civil engineering and construction estimation techniques, and apply this knowledge to enhance our estimating processes.

Key Requirements:

• 5 to 10 years of experience in estimating, specifically in the Utilities, Earthworks, and FRP sectors.

• Strong understanding of cost estimation software and tools.

• Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and industry standards.

• Experience working with project teams to provide clear and effective estimates.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.

• A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).

• Strong negotiation skills and a proven ability to work under pressure.

Desired Requirements:

• Proficiency in the use of desktop tools such as MS project / Pronamics / Power BI & Mudshark
