Immunisation Nurse (Casual)

Are you a passionate Registered Nurse dedicated to promoting public health and improving immunisation rates? We are currently seeking experienced Immunisation Nurses to join our team on a casual basis throughout the year to provide workplace vaccination programs to staff at increased risks from vaccine-preventable diseases while at work as well as workplace influenza and COVID-19 vaccination clinics from March to June each year. The role is mobile and will operate from our facility located in Victoria Park.

As an Immunisation Nurse, you will play a vital role in administering vaccinations to individuals in workplaces. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Interpreting vaccination histories and making recommendations regarding a range of vaccinations;

  • Completing pre-vaccination risk assessments, administering vaccines and completing accurate documentation;

  • Monitoring individuals for any adverse reactions or allergies;

  • Providing education and counselling on vaccinations; and

  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines and protocols.

We are led by a Registered Nurse with over 30 years of experience in public health and immunisation and take immense pride in the work of our nurses.

About You:

To excel in this role, you should be a highly organised person who possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You must be able to establish rapport with people and make them feel at ease during the immunisation process. Attention to detail, the ability to interpret vaccination histories, familiarity with IT processes and meticulous documentation skills are necessary to ensure accurate records and adherence to legal requirements.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration

  • HESA-accredited nurse immuniser certificate; or nurse immuniser certificate valid for the state/territory in which you wish to work

  • The right to work in Australia

PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must be RNs with work rights and include details of their nurse immuniser certificate relevant to their state/territory. Applicants must provide a CV detailing their nurse immuniser qualifications and experience as a nurse immuniser. Applications that do not meet these requirements will not be progressed.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in nursing, including in immunisation

  • Sound knowledge of vaccination schedules and best practices

  • Strong communication and patient counselling skills

  • Proficiency in computer skills, including the ability to use digital tools and software effectively

  • Competence in managing clinic data accurately and efficiently on a mobile device, ensuring smooth operation and compliance with data security standards

  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment

  • Own car and mobile phone

  • Available to work a minimum of two days per week (Monday to Friday)

  • Familiarity with relevant guidelines and immunisation protocols

  • Demonstrated ability to manage adverse reactions or emergencies effectively
