The RoleWe're seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team. You'll be instrumental in developing cutting edge mechanical systems across diverse defence applications. This role offers the opportunity to work on varied projects from initial concept through to manufacturing, with significant autonomy and technical ownership.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign mechanical systems and components from concept to production-ready specifications
Develop and maintain technical drawings, manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials (BoMs)
Conduct design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise designs
Design, refine, and improve robotic systems and other specialised mechanical systems
Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are producible and cost-effective
Participate in prototype testing and iterative design improvements
Maintain documentation standards and design libraries
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 2 years of professional experience in mechanical design
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, or similar)
Strong mechanical aptitude with understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical principles
Strong mechanical aptitude with understanding of materials, manufacturing processes (machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication), and mechanical principles
Experience creating technical drawings and manufacturing documentation
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Australian citizenship
Experience with robotic systems, mechatronic products, or other complex mechanical assemblies
Knowledge of Defence industry standards and requirements
Familiarity with FEA and simulation tools
