About the role

As a Track Ranger, you will be the face of the Parks and Wildlife Service on one of Tasmania’s most challenging and rewarding multi-day hikes. You will maintain huts and tracks, support visitor safety, and protect the natural and cultural values of this remote reserve by:

  • Providing friendly advice, interpretation, and assistance to bushwalkers.
  • Maintaining huts, tracks, and recreational infrastructure.
  • Monitoring environmental conditions and visitor impacts.
  • Assisting with emergency response and administer First Aid.

This is seasonal fixed term role for 4.5 months, 64 hours per fortnight on an approved roster.

Our ideal candidate
  • Strong bushwalking and remote area navigation skills.
  • Experience in minor construction and maintenance tasks.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Knowledge of Tasmanian reserve management and cultural heritage.
  • First Aid Level 2 (Wilderness First Aid).
  • Completion of firefighter fitness test (4.83km walk with 20.5kg in 45 mins).
  • Willingness to camp and reside on-track during rostered shifts.
