About us

Power and Water Corporation is a Northern Territory Government (NTG) owned utility that operates across a geographic area of 1.3 million square kilometres and within a range of diverse environmental conditions, ranging from the arid dry of the central desert to the tropical monsoon of the top end. The corporation generates, transmits and distributes electricity, supplies water and wastewater treatment services across the Northern Territory (NT) for the benefit of residents, including remote and isolated Aboriginal communities and outstations.

An excellent opportunity now exists for mechanical or electrical trade, AQF Cert III or equivalent to join our experienced and successful corporation based in Darwin, Northern Territory. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate their experience in a generation asset or maintenance management role within energy or utilities industry, demonstrating good understanding of the principles and practices associated with maintaining power generation assets. The candidate shall possess advanced problem-solving and analysis skills with good experience in analysis of asset conditions and performance. Level of appointment will depend on qualification, skill, knowledge and experience.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will hold the following mandatory qualifications, skills and experience:

  • AQF Cert. III or equivalent in mechanical or electrical trade.

  • Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices associated with maintaining power generation and associated plant.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop successful multi discipline teams, including the ability to manage physical, financial and human resources.

  • High level interpersonal and communication skills including the effective use of conflict resolution, problem solving, negotiation and networking skills.

  • Demonstrated understanding of safe work practices, risk and hazard management strategies in an industrial or utility setting.

  • Current NT driver's licence or ability to obtain.

  • Extensive experience in the operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment and/or associated infrastructure e.g. switchgear, fuel, control and auxiliaries etc. within a power generation, marine engineering, mining or other engine fleet management field.

  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining strong professional working relationships with stakeholders and industry representatives.

  • Extensive experience in strategic asset management, risk management and financial management

  • Demonstrated advanced analysis and problem-solving capability, including understanding of data and information management in a utility scale business.

  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word.
