Civil Designer / Drafters (12D) - Land Development

Join a respected civil consultancy with 30+ years of repeat clients and a strong project pipeline. We’re partnering with a Melbourne-based firm to hire two Civil Designers skilled in 12D for subdivision and urban development work across commercial, residential, and industrial projects.

The opportunity
You’ll produce high-quality civil design packages and contribute to project delivery from concept to completion.
Key responsibilities
- Civil design using 12D roads, drainage, earthworks, and utilities
- Designs to MRWA (sewer) and EDCM (roads & drainage) requirements
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders
- (Senior-leaning role) Take ownership of design packages and step into leading tasks as appropriate
- (Optional/nice-to-have) Support junior staff and contribute to best-practice processes
What we’re looking for
- 3 - 8+ years in an Australian civil consulting environment (slightly higher will be considered)
- Strong 12D capability - able to work autonomously day-to-day
- At the earlier end: comfortable completing 12D designs to MRWA/EDCM with guidance on strategy
- At the senior end: fully autonomous in 12D and ready to take a lead role on projects
- Experience across subdivisions and/or commercial/industrial land development
- Relevant Engineering or Drafting qualification
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- PR or Australian citizenship required
Nice-to-haves (not essential)
- Exposure to HEC-RAS/TUFLOW or flood/drainage modelling
- Experience mentoring junior designers
