The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse (Melanoma, Head & Neck and Gynaecological Cancer) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

• Assist with the planning and coordination of complex cancer care and provide education
• Liaise, coordinate, educate and communicate with patients throughout their treatment journey
• Act as a clinical resource, advisor, mentor and role model
• Appropriately delegate nursing activities to registered nurses, enrolled nurses and Assistant in nursing

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

• Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent  
• Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

• Permanent part time (45.60 hrs p.f.)
• Base salary ranging from $54.44 - $58.30 per hour

The Specialist Cancer Nursing Team assists patients and their carers to navigate their journeys with a full understanding of the avenues of support available to them at any point along their pathway. A new cancer diagnosis including intensive diagnostic work up and complex treatment regimens can often result in patients and their families feeling fearful, anxious and confused as they attempt to navigate their way through the complexities of their care pathway. The follow up phase of care offers similar uncertainties.
