The Company

Robert Half Executive Search has been exclusively retained by Southern Cross Care Tasmania to appoint a strategic and hands-on Chief Financial Officer to guide the organisation through significant transformation to ensure the ongoing financial sustainability, compliance, and future readiness of the organisation. The role will be based in New Town, a suburb nestled in the picturesque landscape of Tasmania, just north of Hobart's city centre.

Southern Cross Care (Tasmania) is the state's largest not-for-profit aged care provider, offering aged care, retirement living, home care, respite, and allied health services across multiple sites. The Role

Reporting to the CEO and leading a team of 20+, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the integrity of all financial management and reporting across the organisation. The role supports informed decision-making, ensuring financial resources are effectively aligned with Southern Cross Care Tasmania's goals and mission, positioning the organisation for future success.

Key areas of focus include:

• Direct and oversee all finance and accounting functions, ensuring robust systems, processes, and internal controls.
• Provide timely, accurate, and transparent financial reporting to the CEO, Board of Directors, and regulators.
• Ensure all statutory and regulatory obligations are met and are up to date.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
• Maintain full compliance with the Aged Care Act 2024, Aged Care Prudential Standards, ASIC, and ACNC requirements.
• Manage internal and external audit functions, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
• Oversee and optimise the organisation's investment portfolio to support long-term financial sustainability.

Your Profile

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned financial leader with deep expertise in a regulated environment. While aged care experience is highly desirable, experience in adjacent regulated industries such as disability, health, community or child services, or other not-for-profit environments is also of interest.

A strong cultural alignment with this organisation and its purpose will be key to the success of the incoming CFO and as such a genuine passion to work in this sector is essential.

In addition, they will bring:

• CA/CPA qualification.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in progressively senior financial leadership roles, ideally within complex, highly regulated organisations.
• Proven ability to take ownership of a finance function, driving performance, efficiency, and strategic outcomes in an agile and growing organisation.
• Demonstrable experience in leading large finance teams through change.
• Significant transformation and change experience.
• An understanding of the compliance requirements within the Aged Care Act 2024, prudential standards, ASIC, and ACNC requirements would be advantageous.
• Adaptable, proactive, and forward-thinking, thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Passionate about aged care, with a strong appreciation for its positive impact on the community.
