Key Responsibilities
The Carpenter will play a hands-on role in the production of prefabricated timber trusses and frames. Core duties include:
Interpreting shop drawings and design specifications to prepare timber components for production.
Selecting and measuring timber lengths, marking cut lines, and preparing layouts for assembly.
Operating saws, presses and other workshop machinery, together with hand and power tools, to cut, shape and finish components.
Assembling timber sections into trusses and frames using jigs, fixings and fasteners, ensuring accuracy and compliance with structural requirements.
Checking completed units for accuracy of dimensions, alignment and quality standards before dispatch.
Carrying out adjustments or repairs to prefabricated items when required.
Maintaining a safe and tidy work area and following workplace health and safety practices.
Assisting with stock management of timber and consumables.
Working collaboratively with other trades and production staff to meet schedules and client requirements
Skills and Qualifications
• Relevant qualification or at least three years work experience in lieu of qualification.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting plans and workshop drawings.
• Demonstrated ability to use workshop machinery and carpentry tools safely and accurately.
• Strong eye for detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Knowledge of safe work practices and ability to follow WHS procedures.
