Position Summary
As our Rock Tools Technician you’ll safely provide excellent customer service to meet these service agreements' onsite obligations and requirements. This includes site preparation, handling equipment, managing drill consumables, supporting sample recovery, and ensuring compliance with WHS standards. The role is physically demanding, based in remote environments, and safety-critical.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Travel to designated mine site in the Cobar region and conduct weekly on-site stock checks and tool condition assessments.
Deliver and collect rock-drilling consumables from mine site storage containers, liaising directly with drillers and site supervisors to understand site needs
Collect and label core samples accurately
Assist with the maintenance and cleaning of equipment
Monitor wear and damage on rods, bits, and accessories
Perform pre-start inspections and report hazards
You will report on tool usage, site activity, and customer feedback
Coordinate deliveries, stock levels, and service logs using MS Word & Excel
Desired skills/experience include
Essential:
Experience with drill consumables or mining operations (ideal but not essential)
Physically fit - capable of lifting up to 40kg
Willingness to work underground
Basic mechanical aptitude and sound judgement in physical inspections
Comfortable using Word/Excel for reporting and Outlook for emails
Valid Australia Driver’s Licence (HR preferred) - Manual with 4WD training/experience preferred
Able to pass drug/alcohol screening, police check, and medical
Comfortable working in confined spaces and at depth
Forklift license desirable
Desirable:
White Card (Construction Induction)
First Aid / CPR Certification
Confined Space & Working at Heights
High-Risk Work Licence (e.g., forklift, dogging)
Previous FIFO/DIDO experience
Work Conditions
Underground environment with high heat, noise, and dust
Extended shifts, FIFO or DIDO roster (e.g., 2:1 or 3:1)
Use of PPE at all times
Manual handling and strenuous physical activity
Operation in remote or regional locations
