Brimbank is continuously growing, with many transformational infrastructure projects about to break ground. A key focus of the coming years will be working with the State and Federal Governments to establish Melbourne Airport Rail; to complete redevelopment of Sunshine and Albion Stations; and the realisation of the Sunshine Precinct Masterplan which will Sunshine transformed into a CBD, vastly increasing local jobs, housing, businesses, services and tourism to provide for the many tens of thousands of people living, working and travelling through the Brimbank.

We are currently seeking a Full Time Permanent staff member to join our team based at our offices in Sunshine.

The role

Reporting to the Senior Strategic officer - Arboriculture , we are seeking an Arborist who can bring their skills and experience for:

• Competent pruning of trees / chipping branches
• Discuss, advise and recommend to the Tree Crew Team Leader / Senior Strategic Officer any possible opportunities for improvements to service delivery, productivity and safety of staff
• Conduct pre-start checks on all plant and equipment prior to starting the item up, this includes site JSA's and SWP's.
• Report any damage or malfunction of plant to the Team Leader/Coordinator/ Senior Strategic Officer immediately.
• Act in a courteous, co-operative, responsible and professional manner at all times.
• Report the need for maintenance and / or repair of Council assets observed during the course of undertaking your normal duties.
• Complete Daily Work Sheets and return to Team Leader/Coordinator/ Senior Strategic Officer daily.
• Wear the approved Brimbank Operations uniform at all times during work hours, including all requisite safety clothing and equipment and PPE
• Immediately advise your Team Leader/Coordinator/ Senior Strategic Officer of safety clothing/safety -equipment or uniform requirements.
• Other duties within Parks Services as directed.

To be considered you will have:

• Developed skills in the safe and competent operation of designated plant and equipment.
• Ability to use plant and equipment for tree maintenance and pesticide application.
• Climbing trees using rope and harness method.
• Worksafe High Risk Licence – Elevated Work Platform (EWP)
• Arboricultural qualifications and knowledge.
• Ability to use hand tools / chainsaws
