About you
This role will require you to have great attention to detail and time management skills. You will be a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic and have sound knowledge and experience on heavy commercials, earthmoving, agricultural type equipment, light fleet and ancillary items including hybrid. You will be compliant with all aspects of workplace health and safety.
As a part of the Fleet and Workshop team, you will have the opportunity to work on Council's vast fleet of vehicles, from heavy diesel trucks and plant through to light vehicles.
Reporting to the Team Leader - Workshop, you will perform a variety of maintenance & service tasks on Council's fleet of vehicles. This will involve proactive maintenance, emergency breakdowns & service/repairs for Council plant, equipment, and vehicles.
Day-to-day tasks include:
Undertaking fault diagnosis
Council Fleet and Vehicle Servicing
Maintaining an orderly workshop
Liaising with customers
To be considered for the role you must hold:
At least one of the below Certificates III or equivalent qualification
Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
Certificate III in Agricultural Mechanical Technology
Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology
And
Medium Rigid Licence (MR)
General Construction Industry - White Card
Forklift licence or ability to obtain
The position has a base salary of $81,784.41/year + superannuation. City of Darwin also provides generous leave entitlements such as 6 weeks annual leave, 15 days personal leave and a paid RDO every 4 weeks.
