Essential Requirements
To be eligible to work with us you must:
Be an Australian Citizen
Hold a minimum NV1 (Negative Vetting Level 1) security clearance
Be available to work in-person at Canberra Defence premises (no remote-only candidates)
Have separated from the Australian Defence Force (ADF) or Australian Public Service (APS) for at least 12 months
Have demonstrated experience in Defence project management environments (CASG, DDG or Service HQs)
Please note: Candidates who do not meet these criteria will not be considered.
Necessary Qualifications and Experience
Relevant project management qualifications such as PRINCE2, PMP (Project Management Professional), AgilePM, or Scrum
Familiarity with Defence capability development frameworks (e.g. One Defence Capability System)
Familiarity with Defence project documentation such as Business Cases, Project Execution Strategies, and Integrated Project Management Plans.
Proficiency with Defence systems such as MyProcurement, MS Project, (Project Performance Reporting Information Platform), or Predict! risk management
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Demonstrated experience supporting or delivering outcomes for Defence programs
Please note the standard of competence for these roles is high. If you do not have prior experience in Defence or complex project delivery environments, you will not be considered.
Common Responsibilities (these vary by seniority)
Coordinate project planning, governance activities, and milestone reporting
Draft and manage artefacts such as schedules, Business Cases, Joint Capability Needs Statements, and Project Execution Strategies
Track risks and issues using established tools such as Predict!, and maintain risk registers and project logs
Coordinate or contribute to the preparation of Gate submissions and Capability Management Boards
Lead with procurement activities, contract change proposals (CCPs), and contract deliverable tracking
Create and manage project schedules and budgets.
Contribute to project performance dashboards and status reporting in tools such as PPRIP or SAP
Support audit readiness and participate in Defence governance forums
Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders across CASG, industry, and Commonwealth project teams
