YU Catering Pty Ltd trading as Tokyo Canteen is a vibrant and modern Japanese-inspired restaurant located in the heart of Kingston. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality dishes with fresh ingredients, authentic flavours and excellent customer service. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our team on a full-time basis.
● Check ingredients to ensure they are fresh and of good quality.
● Adjust and control the temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment.
● Prepare and cook a variety of dishes.
● Season food throughout the cooking process to enhance flavour.
● Portion and plate meals neatly, adding sauces, gravies, and garnishes as required.
● Store food safely in temperature-controlled areas to maintain freshness.
● Prepare meals for customers with special dietary needs.
● May assist with planning menus and estimating the ingredients needed.
● May help train and support junior kitchen staff and apprentices.
Skills & Experience Required
● Minimum of 1-2 years’ relevant experience as a Cook.
● Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
● Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
● Understanding of Japanese cuisine is desirable but not essential.
● Ability to work weekends, public holidays and peak periods as required.
