Are you ready to take the next step in your HVAC career? This is an exciting opportunity to lead a local engineering team within a respected national mechanical services contractor delivering landmark Design & Construct projects across the commercial, education, retail and mixed-use sectors.
The Role
As the QLD HVAC Engineering Lead, you’ll manage local engineering resourcing and guide a small team of engineers and draftspersons in the design and delivery of HVAC mechanical projects typically valued between $1–$20 million. You’ll play a key role in ensuring project excellence — balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on involvement in technical delivery when required.
This role would suit an experienced engineer currently in a leadership role or a senior-level HVAC engineer ready to step up and lead a team within a supportive and well-structured business.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a local team of mechanical engineers and draftspersons in project delivery
- Manage resourcing and technical oversight for HVAC Design & Construct projects
- Maintain strong collaboration with project managers, estimators, and site teams
- Provide hands-on design input and technical guidance across project stages
- Liaise with clients and consultants to ensure high-quality outcomes
- Work closely with national engineering resources when required to deliver complex projects
- Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer with a background in HVAC building services
- Prior experience working with a mechanical services contractor (essential)
- Proven ability to manage or mentor engineers and coordinate technical output
- Strong design knowledge across chilled water, ventilation, and DX systems
- Confident communicator with a practical, solutions-focused approach
- Desire to grow into a senior leadership capacity within a progressive business
