About the role:
Clarity Partners is partnering with a trusted Australian provider of engineering and technology solutions across the mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors.
We are seeking a Payroll Officer to join their collaborative Finance team on a 3-month temporary contract with potential to transition to a permanent role. This is an immediate start opportunity for a detail-oriented payroll professional who values accuracy, teamwork, and efficient payroll delivery across Australia and New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-end payroll processing across multiple entities in Australia and New Zealand.
- Review and validate timesheets, awards, and entitlements within the Definitiv system.
- Ensure timely payment of salaries, superannuation, and statutory obligations (PAYG, payroll tax).
- Support HR with onboarding/offboarding processes and prepare termination calculations.
- Assist with month-end payroll journals and investigate variances as required.
- Maintain employee records and respond to payroll-related queries from employees and auditors.
- Stay up to date with STP requirements and Fair Work legislation changes.
- Support compliance, audit preparation, and integration of new acquisitions into the payroll system.
About You
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience administering payroll in a high-volume environment.
- Solid understanding of Australian payroll legislation and relevant awards.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Confident communicator who can liaise effectively with managers and staff.
- Proficient in Excel and online banking.
- Experience with Definitiv or similar payroll systems (advantageous).
- A true team player who can remain calm, organised, and accurate under pressure.
