About the Role

 

We are seeking experienced Composite Technicians, preferably with Resin Infusion experience to join our team. If you are a composite technician or boat builder, we have a range of positions available. Suitable candidates will have prior experience in composites fabrication using resin infusion and vacuum bagging techniques, as well as traditional composite laminating and finishing techniques. A formal trade qualification and/or technical experience with composites is essential. We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic staff members, with a good work ethic and a high level of self-motivation. Opportunities to progress with the company are also available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpreting Engineering Drawings and following Quality Control processes
  • Mould assembly and preparation
  • Working with foam and mould fabrication processes
  • Preparing glass fabrics and assembling pre-forms
  • Assembling dry laminates and pre-forms as per technical drawings and QC processes
  • Vacuum bagging and resin infusion
  • Laminating fibreglass parts by hand lamination (wet-layup process) or other processes
  • Demoulding and trimming of fibreglass parts
  • Apply flow coats and coatings

Qualifications/Skills/Experience Requirements

Trade qualifications and/or experience in the fabrication of composites. This includes a Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or a Certificate IV, or at least 3 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in resin infusion and vacuum bagging techniques
  • Must be able to interpret drawings, technical specifications
  • Excellent hand tool skills
  • Ability to communicate and work well within a team environment
  • Strong eye for detail with a focus on accuracy
  • Ability and willingness to learn
  • Reliability and Punctuality
  • A strong understanding of safe work practices and workplace health and safety
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Other skills, Licences and certifications such as first aid, forklift, crane, dogging etc would be an advantage, but not essential
